Forced Entry At Southside Apartment

Five arrested, including a 50-year-old from Thunder Bay, after an incident at a Westfort apartment unit.

Officers were sent to an area on Amelia Street West Wednesday night after reports of three suspects forcing their way into an apartment while in possession of a shotgun.

Police arrived and prepared to contain the room, though two suspects fled.

One of these men was arrested after a struggle with police in which he assaulted one of the arresting officers.

Police were then able to contain the scene and seize the shotgun.

The charges against the Thunder Bay man include:

  • Use of a Firearm While Attempting to Commit Offence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm with Knowledge its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling
  • Breach of Probation
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Breach of Probation

The investigation remains ongoing.
