Breast Cancer Awareness Month Begins

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Data shows around 12,000 people in Ontario are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, while 2,000 pass away from it.

If you’re between the ages of 50 and 74, regional hospitals are urging you to talk to your doctor about breast cancer screening.

According to research, the pandemic led to a 41 per cent drop in cancer screening tests compared to pre-pandemic levels.

In our region, you can get screened in Fort Frances, Kenora, Sioux Lookout and Thunder Bay.
