Officials are gearing up for the return of Empty Bowls Caring Hearts.
The event, which helps support Shelter House and the Thunder Bay Food Bank, will happen Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Moose Hall on Fort William Road.
Co-chair Robin Cooper tells Acadia News that despite the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccine passport program, the event will still happen in a drive-through format.
“We always planned to do this outdoors because we thought that that was the best thing for everybody safety wise, and we knew that we could accommodate everyone that wanted to take part,” Cooper added.
Even though it’s a Saturday event, ticket sales will close on Friday the 15th, with Cooper saying that volunteers will need to ensure that there is enough soup in mason jars for ticketholders.
The fundraiser usually serves soup at a sit-down event, but that wasn’t able to happen last year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
