Watch out for “phone scammers”. Apparently, I have an “illegal substance” waiting for me at the border! WHAT????

Phone scammers are out there….we all know that.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, there have been over 50,000 reports of fraud, and over $144 million lost to scammers in the past year.

Here’s what happened to me:

On Thursday afternoon, I received a call on my cell. The call came from this number: 519-243-2546

It was a recording. They said they were calling from the Canada Border Services Agency, and they had seized a package with my name / address. The package contained an illegal substance, and there was a warrant issued for my arrest. BUT, all I had to do was press #1, and I would be transferred to a Border agent who would clear any charges.

Guess what I did? I HUNG UP. That’s what you should do too. Don’t be fooled by these terrible schemes. Can you believe it? Over $144 million was lost to scammers in the past 12 months.

Please remember to have the conversation with your children, parents, grandparents and friends. If it sounds suspicious………..just hang up!!!
