Re-Opening The Boys & Girls Clubs

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Thunder Bay continues to prepare to welcome kids back on Monday.

With the return of school, the facility on Windsor Street falls under a different category with the province.

“During the summer, we’re more classified as a recreational facility and sporting place and now we’re more categorized as after school so there’s different legislation that goes with that,” explains Executive Director Albert Aiello.”

Ahead of the September 27th re-opening, Aiello adds staff training is only one part of the prep work.

“Getting kids back on board with signing up,” notes Aiello. “We also have the Safe Walkers and Safe Arrival program, which involves us coordinating things with the schools to ensure that is back in place.”

The Executive Director notes when it comes to the vaccine passport implementation, the Club will continue to have full screening at their doors and will ask for proof of vaccination from all staff and visitors.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
