Today, marks the 2nd straight day the Thunder Bay District Health Unit has reported ZERO ACTIVE CASES. ZERO! In fact – it’s been 13 consecutive days without a new case.
This is something that we all should be very proud of. Just 3 months ago, we were one of the hotspots in not only Ontario, but in Canada. Now look at us.
Since March, 2020…there have been over 3,300 cases reported and 64 deaths. To those that have lost a loved one due to Covid….I have no words except, “I’m sorry”. We don’t know what you’ve been through….and our hearts are with you.
I mentioned how this ZERO CASE update is a remarkable accomplishment for not only our city, but our district. This is definitely getting the attention of government officials. However, comments on social media immediately turned to the fact that this will all change when we let American’s cross our border in August. Every situation is different. They’ll require proof of being fully vaccinated etc.
My thoughts: can we just take a moment to reflect on this amazing achievement please! PLEASE! It’s been exactly one year to the day (July 20, 2020), when we had a ‘zero active case count’.
I want to thank each and every person who followed the guidelines. The first responders who continue to work in this crazy environment. Hospital staff etc. THANK YOU!!!
We have every right to be thankful and shout it from the rooftops. Who knows what tomorrow might bring and the next day, but in the meantime: be proud of what we’ve all accomplished.
Cheers to a great day!
