Fraud Arrest At Thunder Bay Bank

A Waterloo man faces a charge of identity fraud with intent.

He is accused of defrauding people across Ontario out of more than $927,000.

Police were called to the Royal Bank of Canada Branch on Alloy drive Tuesday about a man trying to make a withdrawal using suspected fraudulent identification.

He was in an argument when police arrived, and then attempted to escape.

The officer was able to prevent this and arrest the man after a brief struggle.

Police, with help from an RBC investigator, connected the individual to other frauds that occurred across Ontario.

The investigation continues.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
