State of Emergency In Long Lake #58

A spike in COVID-19 is triggering a State of Emergency in Long Lake #58 First Nation.

Chief Judy Desmoulin announced 22 new cases yesterday, saying the community doesn’t have the resources to handle the situation on its own.

She’s asking for the government’s help to address the outbreak, saying youth from ages 12 to 17 haven’t been vaccinated yet.

This is the first time the community 40 kilometres east of Geraldton has had to declare a State of Emergency during the pandemic.
