Compost is now available to all residents at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility.
Manager of Solid Waste and Recycling Services Jason Sherband stated that the compost is ready earlier than in other years.
“It’s just in time for people tending their lawns and planting their flower gardens,” said Sherband. “The compost is composed of leaf and yard waste that’s picked up during our curbside collection programs, which is blended with organic waste collected on-site. It’s great for landscaping, but not suitable for vegetable gardens.”
Access to the compost pick-up is on John Street Road, between Mapleward Road and Gratton Road.
Social distancing will be in effect, with only three vehicles allowed in the loading area at a time.
It is advised those interested bring a shovel and some form of container to carry their compost home.
Each resident can bring home a maximum of one half-ton load of compost.
Hours for pick-up are weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. as well as Saturday from 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
