Council Approves Raises For Tbaytel Board

Those who sit on the Tbaytel Board of Directors are getting a bump up in pay.

The request was put forward ahead of Monday’s council meeting to update compensation rates for members for the first time since 2006.

The proposal included increasing the pay of Board Chair Jack Jamieson to $9,900 as well as giving an extra $320 to board members who put in three and a half hours or more extra work on top of regular duties.

Council also approved a raise in the annual director stipends to $7,600 per year.

Jamieson, in the memorandum distributed to council, maintained that the increases were agreed upon based on the national cost of living increases since the last raise.

Jamieson went onto report that the board has been able to see a growth in annual revenues since 2006 from $96 million to $200 million, which would substantiate the raise.

Tbaytel would pay approximately $42,000 annually to implement the change.
