Northwood residents will have their say on the roundabout and upcoming infrastructure projects.
Councillor Shelby Ch’ng will hold court at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on the heels of council approving the medicine wheel design for the roundabout at Edward Street and Redwood Avenue.
Ch’ng adds there a few infrastructure projects in the ward coming up, which will add to the $11 million that has been spent in the ward for storm sewer work since the start of her time on council.
“We have less than two per cent grade across Northwood, which means simply the water does not drain properly,” Ch’ng added. “I’m hoping that a lot of those concerns will be mitigated and that all basements will be dry in the spring.”
The councillor was also asked about an earlier report from Clerk Krista Power that engagement for virtual ward and town hall meetings is on the rise. The document indicated that in eight meetings between September 2020 and January 2021 there were 555 views through TBayTel OnDemand and 320 unique views on the city’s website.
When it comes to questions for the meetings, the clerk’s office says members of Council have received and provided responses to more than 150 questions.
“I find the engagement process depends on the issue,” Ch’ng noted. “When it comes to the indoor turf facility, there was a lot of chatter online about it but I did receive a number if emails about it. Whereas something like the Thunder Bay word sign it was pretty much exclusively on social media platforms, I received very few emails or phone calls about it.”
