In-Person Learning Not Returning To Schools Yet

Students in Thunder Bay will not be returning to in-person learning next week.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille indicates the extension will last until after the spring break.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit official explains it is “Due to the ongoing number and rate of active cases of COVID-19 in Thunder Bay and the
significant uncertainty related to Variants of Concern and the third wave provincially.”

The impacted schools include elementary, senior elementary, and high schools of the Lakehead District School Board, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, and CSDC des Aurores Boreales – Thunder Bay, and the Lac des Mille Lacs Education Centre.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
