Firefighters Stress Need For Escape Plan

Do you have a home fire escape plan?

That’s a question that the region’s fire services want everyone to be able to answer yes to.

The Kenora Fire and Emergency Services remind you that everyone should know at least two ways out of each room, and that at this time of year we need to make sure all exits are working and clear of things like snow and ice.

Your fire escape plan should make sure help is available for those who need it, like babies, children or older adults.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s office says that you may less than 60 seconds to leave once a fire starts, which means there’s no time to plan after a blaze starts.

If you need help developing a plan, you’re encouraged to get in touch with your local fire department.
