District Hits 100th Day With New COVID-19 Cases

As of today, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit has reported coronavirus cases for 100 days in a row.

The TBDHU confirmed 32 COVID-19 cases today, alongside nearly 1,300 across the province.

Medical Officer Dr. Janet DeMille calls it a “challenging milestone.”

“I think that sort of reflects what’s happening in our area that we have seen the circulation of the virus and people getting it and the virus spreading in our communities,” says DeMille.

The health official says there will be a day when no new cases are reported, but she is not sure when that may happen.

Out of the Thunder Bay District’s latest cases, 29 caught the virus through close contact.

Another ten people are no longer testing positive, and one person has been released from the hospital, putting the district at 143 active cases.
