The Ontario NDP are hoping to make more progress toward guaranteed paid sick days for workers.
NDP House Leader Peggy Sattler introduced her “Stay Home If You Are Sick” bill in December, and says they urgently need to restart the Legislature to discuss it.
“We want to get back into that chamber as soon as we possibly can, to pass some of those vital supports that Ontarians need to get through this pandemic,” she says.
Her bill is meant to prevent COVID-19 and other illnesses from spreading through workplaces.
In December, the southern Ontario MPP claimed that without sick days, low-wage workers aren’t able to follow public health advice meant to stop the spread of COVID-19.
She hopes Conservatives have heard the need for paid sick days during the pandemic.
