The Thunder Bay Fire Service is looking to hire some new firefighter recruits.
Chief Greg Hankkio tells us there are no specific openings right now but he believes there might be later this year or next year.
“Our existing hiring list has expired so we need to go through the process of having another list in place anticipating some future attrition and just so we are in a position to be able to hire people if and when the need arises,” indicates Hankkio.
The city fire chief anticipates there will be hundreds of applicants noting, “In the last number of recruitments we’ve done we’ve had anywhere from 260 upwards of close to 500 applicants. I would anticipate we’ll be in that neighbourhood again.”
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2021.
