New travel restrictions are being introduced by the federal government.
Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc says these will be quickly implemented, “The requirement for all arriving passengers to have a negative PCR COVID test three days before arriving in Canada.”
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says they have also increased the number of Canada Border Service Agents at crossings and airports.
He adds they are once again strongly advising Canadians not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary, “The federal government, in fact no government in Canada can prevent Canadians from travelling, but I want to be very clear. We strongly advise against all discretionary travel.”
If Canadians choose to travel, they must enter into quarantine, “Your compliance with these requirements will be verified regularly. If needed, your case can be referred to law enforcement in cases of non-compliance. If you violate quarantine you can face up to six months in jail or up to $750,000 in fines,” Blair says.
