Driver Ok After Power Lines Land On Truck

A transport truck driver is ok after sliding into the ditch on Island Drive, and taking down some power lines.

Dan Coulter is District Fire Chief, and tells us the truck was energized when the lines landed on it Wednesday morning near the lift bridge. “Hydro was called, they’ve isolated the scene, making it safe around the truck. The wires were then not a concern. The driver was not hurt, he was removed from the vehicle, and checked out by ambulance.”

The District Chief adds some power was knocked out when the pole was broken, but hydro has been working to restore it.

He adds he believes it was the weather which caused this, but is leaving it to the police for the official word.
