The 2021 portion of the SIJHL schedule will be released soon.
Although the Kenora Thistles and Fort Frances continue their games, Commissioner Darrin Nicholas says the other Superior teams have been told to re-assemble their players and staff by December 28th.
“That will allow us time to isolate the players and staff, test them and get them back into the community in a safe manner,” Nicholas says.
The Commissioner explains it’s been a balancing act trying to put games together while ensuring that referees are in place.
“We have had some officials that have elected not to return this year because they’re concerned with the virus. You certainly can’t fault them for that decision, if that’s how they feel [I certainly understand that],” adds Nicholas.
Nicholas mentions the New Year of games are scheduled to get going on January 11th.
