Health Minister Ready To Assist Ridings

The latest update from Canada’s Health Minister concerning COVID-19 vaccine distribution and Thunder Bay’s situation.

Patty Hajdu is disputing claims the provinces are not ready to receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Speaking with Acadia Broadcasting’s John Ongaro, she pointed out she is very comfortable with the process, adding Pfizer will not ship if customers are not ready. “In fact, that was part of the contract with Pfizer, is that countries had to be ready to receive the doses. Pfizer is taking care of all the logistics until it gets to the actual centres.”

The Thunder Bay MP adds the Canadian military is helping, a group specializing in logistics.

As far as COVID-19 numbers in her riding, she points out resources are available, especially to a Thunder Bay long-term care home battling COVID-19.

Hajdu revealed she is ready to work further with the provincial health minister, alongside the regional hospital and Thunder Bay’s medical officer of health.

“So I’ve spoken to Dr. [Janet] DeMille about, for example, Roseview, if they need Canadian Red Cross support, that we’re ready to support the province with that. If they need additional contract tracers, if they need additional testing backup,” says Hajdu.

The federal minister adds local officials feel they have a handle on the situation, but know they can ask for help.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
