A reminder to protect your garbage collectors by safely disposing of your personal protective equipment.
The city’s Solid Waste Manager Jason Sherband says they already made that request at the start of the pandemic, but it seems like some people have forgotten.
Sherband says it isn’t a major issue right now, but loose PPE in garbage cans is cropping up in certain unspecified areas of the city.
“For folks that may come home or whatever and find it easy to just toss them in the can, what we’re reminding folks to do is in fact bag that waste,” he says.
He adds the goal is to minimize the risk for garbage collectors and other workers while they do their jobs.
