The Teleco Cup continues in Oliver Paipoonge, and this time regular season points are on the line.
The Thunder Bay North Stars face off with the Kam River Fighting Walleye for game five tonight and game six tomorrow night.
This also marks the start of the 2020-2021 Superior International Junior Hockey League season.
North Stars Head Coach Rob DeGagne is looking forward to the news that they’ll be able to skate in the Fort William Gardens as early as next week.
“I don’t think it’s quite settled yet because of some dressing room situations. I’m sure we’ll get our home games back in there along with our practices as soon as we can,” says DeGagne.
The green and white have won every game of the Teleco Cup, outscoring the Fighting Walleye 23-12.
Fighting Walleye Bench Boss Matt Valley says special teams has been the difference.
“Our 5 on 5 play has spoken for itself. The special teams has been the clear cut difference so far. Plain and simple, they’ve executed a lot better than we have on the penalty kill and powerplay,” notes Valley.
