Inquest Date Set For Jail Death

An inquest will be held later this month into a death at the Thunder Bay District Jail.

It was in September of 2015 that 42-year-old Timothy Elliott died while in custody.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Elliott’s death.

A jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The hearing is expected to last five days and hear from about eight witnesses.

It will be held on September 28th at the government building on Red River Road and Water Street.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
