Avoid The Water In A Pair Of Lakes

Don’t drink, swim or use the water.

That’s the warning from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit along with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.

The MECP confirm the discovery of Blue-Green Algae in samples taken from Madeline and Icarus Lakes late last month.

Officials say the blooms in our region are historically uncommon but note that’s changed recently with rising climate and water temperatures.

If you spot a suspected blue-green algae bloom you can report it to the Spills Action Centre at 1 (800) 268-6060.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
