Rally For Workplace Rights

Health Care workers are looking for better treatment by the province.

The Ontario wide rallies are in response to the passing of Bill 195, the Reopening Ontario Act.

The Unions, SEIU and CUPE, say the legislation gives the authority to do a number of things including:

– Shift changed from days to nights
– Reassignment to another job
– Relocation
– Laid off without notice
– Cancellation of parental leaves

CUPE/OCHU President Michael Hurley feels after recognizing health care workers as heroes one minute, it’s not okay to strip away basic workplace rights the next.

Thunder Bay the latest locale to host a rally, which continue all over Ontario.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
