Thunder Bay 750 Million Years Ago

Ever wanted to see exactly where T-Bay was on the globe over the course of the last 750 million years? Probably not, but now that we have the option to check it out, it’s super cool!

The Ancient Earth Globe was created by a computer scientist by the name of Ian Webster. The site is interactive with all kinds of neat info. You can check out where we were at various points in the past before the shifting of the planets plate tectonics moved us to our current spot! You can also read what was happening with the environment and animals at the time.

This pic marks our city 500 million years ago. Doesn’t it look like we’re right under the nostril of a big nose!?

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
