Soccer Community To Raise Money For Turf Facility

Thunder Bay’s soccer community is coming together in support of an indoor turf facility.

Michael Veneziale of Soccer Northwest says they will be fundraising to help pay for a new $33 million complex.

The goal is to raise up to $1 million towards the project.

“We’ve never been on the sidelines waiting for this. We’ve been pushing from the start and we’ve been continuing to tell people we want to work to make it happen, ” explains Veneziale.

He says they would use the funds raised to help pay for any money the city is forced to borrow for the turf complex or any debt incurred the first year of operation.

Organizers plan to raise the money in several ways including knocking on doors of local businesses and holding fundraising events.

City councillors will be voting on the turf facility Monday night.
