Some help is coming to northern Ontario’s tourism industry.
Minister Lisa McLeod is in Sault Ste. Marie today, advocating for more local tourism.
“For the last eight weeks I’ve been working to get people to reconnect in their communities, so they can support our tourism, culture and various sports institutions, who have been shuttered for a number of months,” says the minister.
$13-million has been set aside for what she calls hyper-local tourism, and to help an industry greatly impacted by COVID-19.
Area lodges have been lobbying the province for help since most of their clientele comes from south of the border.
