RV Fire Leaves Couple Homeless

A fire on Island Drive on McKellar Island has left two people without a place to live.

The man and woman had called the old recreational vehicle hidden behind some bushes their home. The man, who preferred to not give his name, believes the fire was the result of arson.

Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue Platoon Chief Philip Dzuba explains “unfortunately it was burned to the ground.”

He says the fire was called in by someone in the East End who saw the smoke.Thick black smoke from the blaze could be seen for many kilometres down Arthur Street during the supper hour.

While the man and woman are not hurt a couple of their cats perished.

The Red Cross was called to help find the couple a place to stay.
