Bill Morneau announced he would step down as Canada’s finance minister Monday evening.
The Toronto Centre M.P. announced at a press conference that he would not be re-offering for the next election.
Morneau says he is now preparing to offer as secretary general with the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development.
The outgoing finance minister had been wrapped up in the ongoing WE charity scandal along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He said Monday evening that reports he did not disclose the repayment of a $41,000 travel bill subsidized for WE did not play into his decision to resign.
