Update 1 o’clock, Wednesday:
Provincial police say they do not suspect foul play or arson as the cause of the forest fire burning out of control near Red Lake.
It has grown in size, now listed at 750 hectares. The fire has moved eastward from its origins near Madsen and is now roughly three kilometres south of Red Lake and three kilometres west of Highway 105.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports air attack, ground crews and heavy equipment worked throughout the day Tuesday to slow the fire’s progress.
Highway 105 North at Birch Drive remains closed and traffic control is in place, as is Highway 618 in both directions.
