Local Man Charged After Traffic Stop

A 30-year old Thunder Bay man is facing a number of charges after a traffic stop near Wawa.

Provincial police say at around 7:30, Monday night, they pulled a vehicle over for speeding. The driver gave a false name, then recanted that with his correct name, and then further investigation found he had multiple driving suspensions, at which time he was arrested.

Police add a large amount of money was found, which was seized as proceeds of crime.

He was also charged with having cannabis readily available.

Police say he, and a 32-year old Barrie man, who was charged for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, were released and will appear in court next month in Wawa.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
