It is the end of an era at Lakehead University.
After 30 years as the chaplain at LU Sister Alice Greer has decided to retire from the position saying “It’s time to move to a new ministry” in Sudbury.
Sister Alice tells us she feels “privileged to have been with students, faculty and staff through the difficult moments in their lives and their celebrations,” adding “I will take all of those memories with me and carry them very close to my heart.”
She also remembers attending mass in the Avila Chapel on Sunday nights when she was a teenager, long before she worked at Lakehead University.
“The Sisters of St. Joseph, the religious congregation that I am now a member of, had a coffeehouse after mass – where a large group of us enjoyed staying around and chatting,” she said.
It was those moments she feels which helped sow the seeds for her future life with the sisters.
In place of a farewell gathering, Sister Alice invites you to make a donation to the Dew Drop Inn.
