Police Thwart Forged Cheques Scheme

Police believe they have cracked a major fraud involving the cashing of fake cheques.

They tell us 13 people have been charged as part of the ongoing investigation which began in January and there could be more charges laid.

Police say it involved the cashing of $70,000 worth of bogus cheques which were made to look like they were from Dilico Anishinabek Family Care.

A total of 55 forged cheques were believed to have been cashed.
