Business Owner Thankful For No Injuries

An Algoma Street business owner is thankful no one was hurt when the brick facade at the Beauty House collapsed Tuesday afternoon.

City Councillor and Bean Fiend owner, Brian Hamilton says the scary incident just drives home how important it is to continually check your building out.

“I would encourage everyone to just take a little extra look at your building and see if there’s anything else that can be done to further secure their facade,” Hamilton said.

The Bean Fiend owner says when he first came out to the sidewalk it looked like an earthquake scene with the bricks covering the ground.

Hamilton says the Algoma Street businesses worked together with clean up crews and city officials to get the sidewalk cleaned up in an hour once the bricks hit the ground.

“When it came down, I can tell you it was a lot of weight, and if anybody was underneath it would have spelled trouble, there could have been some serious injuries. We are praising our lucky stars that no one was hurt,” Hamilton said.
