Man Saved From Drug Overdose

A man’s life has been saved by a Thunder Bay police officer from a potent drug overdose.

They tell us they were called about an unconscious man Sunday afternoon just after 2 o’clock, near Connolly and McTavish Streets, from an apparent overdose of Purple Down, a dangerous street drug.

Naloxone was given once the officer noticed needles nearby, and the man began to recover.

Police add fentanyl based street drugs are a serious problem for people with addiction issues, and criminals have no regard for the danger presented.

They urge anyone struggling with a drug problem to seek help. If you are uneasy about seeking help, ask someone to come forward for you, as you are not alone.
