City Working On New Normals

City Manager Norm Gale says they are in the process of bringing workers back to work as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Gale told Acadia Broadcasting’s John Ongaro, it’s not as easy as picking up the phone and telling people they have a shift.

“Different than saying, go home now and we’ll figure it out later than bringing them back. It’s more here’s how you are going to come back, here’s where you are going to work, here are the collective agreement provisions, here are the new safety protocols and here’s the training you have to do,” Gale said.

When it comes to reopening city run recreational opportunities, it’s not as simple as flipping the switch and inviting people back to the Canada Games Complex according to the City’s Community Services Manager.

Kelly Robertson says she has a team of staff looking over the rules and regulations that keep changing.

“Trying to plan for the potential permission to reopen these sites, that’s part of what is going on right now, can we reopen these sites, does it make sense to reopen these sites based on what the restrictions are,” Robertson said.

Once city recreational services reopen its expected there will be limitations on how many people will be allowed to access them at one time.
