Contractors are taking advantage of less traffic on the roads during the pandemic to get some important work underway on Balmoral.
Project Engineer Mike Vogrig says they heard from Nadin Contracting that they needed just a couple of days to get a sewer installed.
“So we kind of went out to area businesses and chatted with them about the project. There was a lot of support from them to just get it done as quickly as possible. So with the idea from the contractor and support from the businesses we thought this is the way we are going to go,” Vogrig said.
The intersection at the Harbour Expressway and Balmoral Street will be fully closed to traffic starting today and ending Thursday night.
A detour will be available at Golf Links Road, Central Avenue, and Carrick Street.
After Thursday, the intersection will open to one lane of traffic in each direction as further work continues on Balmoral.
The continued construction on Balmoral is expected to wrap up at the end of October.
