MP: Mass Shooting Illustrates Need For Gun Control

Following a deadly mass shooting in rural Nova Scotia, our Prime Minister has vowed to strengthen gun control.

Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Marcus Powlowski suggests that he agrees with the PM but can also sympathize with the vast majority of gun owners who are lawful hobbyists and hunters.

“For them to get blamed every time some crazy person with mental health problems starts shooting people, I’m sure it is very frustrating for them and makes them very angry. Now having said that, guns were certainly part of this and the problem with a gun is all it takes is the pull of a finger and a bullet comes out and you can’t take it back,” Powlowski said.

The Thunder Bay Rainy River MP says the recent attack illustrates the need for gun control and now its the government’s job to decide where to draw the line so it doesn’t impact hunters and farmers who respect the law.

“I think it does illustrate the fact that we need gun control, the question is really where to draw the line in order to try and prevent this kind of thing from happening but on the other hand hopefully not adversely affect people like hunters and farmers who respect the law,” Powlowski said.
