Local Business Helps Nurses With Mask Irritation

A Thunder Bay entrepreneur is helping out local nurses at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre who have to wear N95 masks during the pandemic.

Karen Kerk of Bare Organics tells us one nurse complained to her the masks were causing skin irritation on the faces of those who were wearing them so she supplied them with a cream her company makes.

She says “We’ve been making a really natural cream that is great for rashes, eczema and any kind of irritation for about 14 years now,” and a nurse who works in the Emergency Department knew about the cream since she used it on her children when they were growing up.

“So I went and got…little sample jars and made a whole bunch up and she brought them to the hospital and people have been trying them and apparently (it’s) helping,” says Kerk.

The owner of Bare Organics explains she has made up another batch but is trying to find enough containers and ingredients to meet the demand.
