Yesterday I posted about Dolly Parton’s Goodnight Stories series and I was asked by a few people if I had any other things we were doing with stories/bedtime. One thing that I saw this weekend as well that 2/3’s of the kids loved (my middle son thought it was weird) was a series from Wes Tank. He’s mixing Dr. Dre ‘beats’ with Dr. Seuss stories…yes, he’s rapping Dr. Seuss! I thought it was hilarious and absolutely loved it. You can check out his YouTube page here and see/hear him rap The Lorax below:
Something else we’ve been doing recently as well is, my older kids have been listening to podcasts at bedtime. I was listening to one every night myself that was really working to help me fall asleep and I tried it for them and they thought it was amazing. It’s worked really well for them and it might work for your kids as well. The podcast we use is called ‘Nothing Much Happens, Bedtime Stories For Adults’ (see their Facebook Page here). Essentially, they are stories about the narrator’s day, nothing exciting, just a cozy little story that isn’t very exciting, to calm your mind and help you fall asleep. I use them almost every night myself and the stories are definitely fine for kids, not just adults! If you are an iTunes user, you can check out the podcast page here, but you can find it on Spotify and pretty much anywhere else you listen to podcasts as well!
