Staff at the City of Thunder Bay’s Pioneer Ridge home for the aged are not lacking in personal protective equipment.
City Manager Norm Gale says the priority is to protect staff from catching the COVID-19 virus.
“All the people in Pioneer Ridge…are wearing personal protective equipment as required by the province and as directed by the city of Thunder Bay,” says Gale “we are constantly educating the people there, we are making sure they are following proper procedures.”
As well the city manager tells us 13 city staff have been brought in from other non-essential positions to help screen people who are coming into the building.
The city is also not allowing visitors to Pioneer Ridge at this time.
There are 150 residents at Pioneer Ridge and 170 staff.
