Thunder Bay will not be hosting potential evacuees from any northern First Nation in April should it come to that.
According to City Manager Norm Gale with city resources focused on the COVID-19 crisis he suggests it would not be fair at this stage of the season.
” We are unable at this time to provide the necessary support to evacuees so they could have a safe and pleasant stay in Thunder Bay,” says Gale.
The city manager says to his knowledge “this is the first time Thunder Bay has said no to evacuees.”
Gale is not ruling out possibly hosting evacuees later in the season.
