Local Business Giving Back In Time Of Need

A Thunder Bay business is looking to help those who are housebound during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Food Bebe’s Owner Tracy Pinet sent out a call on social media last week for names of people who may be in need of some nourishing food.

Pinet says she reached out on March 20th and she has found people in need she will be giving care packages to.

“I’m also going to be delivering care packages to low income or those in need. One family reached out and the mother is sick with cancer, father just got laid off and they have an 11-year-old daughter and they were nominated in my post. I’m going to drop off frozen meals and soups either today or tomorrow,” Pinet adds.

However, like with many businesses, the pandemic has caused a slow in Food Bebe’s business.

Pinet says, “I want to survive this and come out on the other side, along with so many frightened business owners, and donate where I can.”

She tells us she made the switch to delivery and is thankful for her clients who have placed orders.

“I’ve delivered some to several housebound elderly, some of which are my customers, and the bit of support means so much. They’ve left their money in plastic baggies,” Pinet says.

Pinet explains that she disinfects everything before exchanging it at a resident’s door and she has done curbside pick up at the restaurant of frozen items after people have called their order in.

She goes on to say that she would like to donate one or two care packages per week for as long as she is able to. Pinet notes there’s very little income coming in so she is trying her best and will help out the best she can during these trying times
