Thunder Bay Teen Wins Essay Contest

A grade 12 St. Ignatius High School student is getting the top prize in the “Rotary 4 Way Test Essay Contest.”

Isabella Bosch was awarded a $1,250 USD prize for her essay on consumerism.

Bosch’s essay which was jointly submitted by Fort William Rotary, Lakehead Rotary, Nipigon Rotary, Port Arthur Rotary, and Thunder Bay Rotaract, received a total score of 91, out of a possible 100 points from the judges’ panel.

Past District Governor Roly Turner, who presented the cheque on behalf of District Governor Rick Bricker, complimented Bosch on her essay stating, “you have made us consider the much broader implications of shopping locally. The ramifications of choosing to stay closer to home with your dollars are well documented in your essay and a good reminder for all of us.”
