Province Consulting On-Line To Fight Bullying

The Ontario government is resorting to the internet as a way to fight bullying in schools.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce says there will be an on-line survey, asking for students, parents and teachers to give their experiences.

The government says according to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, 21% of Ontario students in Grades 7-12 report being bullied at school. Lecce points out the survey will give them a better understanding of what’s going on, think of different ways to report and stop it, and make schools safer.

This is part of some initiatives announced in November which also includes training teachers on anti-bullying and de-escalation tactics.
