The Special Olympics Winter Games get started this week and athletes will soon be getting settled in town.
Over 1,200 athletes, coaches and other staff are taking part in the Games. Those coming from out of town will be welcomed at the Thunder Bay Airport this afternoon.
The games start on Tuesday and finish up next Saturday.
The 2020 Winter Games feature alpine skiing, five-pin bowling, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, floor hockey, speed skating and snowshoeing. Organizers say these games are the qualifying event for athletes to become members of Team Canada attending the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
