New City Council Camera System Delayed

If you watch City Council’s Monday night broadcast you are going to have to wait a little bit longer to see it in high definition.

City Clerk Krista Power tells us work started last year on procuring a new camera and audio equipment system for Council Chambers.

“We worked in partnership with our IT department, folks at Shaw and Tbaytel, and our live-stream vendors as well. It will be an HD system, cameras that move, the new system will provide a greater ease of accessibility for those watching at home,” Power explains.

Installation was to start on February 11th and wrap up on February 28th, however, the city clerk says because the equipment was delivered late they will have to do it at a later time.

City staff say they are now going to install the new system from March 24th to April 15th. One meeting on April 6th will have to be rescheduled, cancelled or moved to another location.
