I’ll be honest, I don’t get the continued love for cassettes. I much prefer vinyl for my home listening and you really can’t beat digital for portability. I mean, even the most well cared for cassettes are prone to stretching and warping from over playing. Not to mention the danger of you cassette player randomly deciding to eat the tape, forcing you to either snap the tape or at the very least, spool it back in repeatedly with a pencil. That being said, I still have a cassette deck at home and piles of cassettes (some stuff just never made it to another format). For those of you who love cassettes and want to hit the streets while listening to tapes, NINM out of Hong Kong has the answer for you! They have updated the portable cassette player, and given it a ‘Bluetooth’ make over! Not only can you stream your music to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones, you can use your old-school wired headphones as well! Admittedly, it’s pretty neat and I think I’d buy one of these over the .mp3 player that looks like it was playing a cassette. Although if YOU were buying me a present, I’d be happy to take either! 😉
