Horse Killed In Highway Collision

One horse was killed in a traffic mishap just outside the city.

Ontario Provincial Police tell us it happened around 8:30 last night on Highway 61 between Harquoil Road and Gillespie Road.

Police say two horses escaped from their enclosure on someone’s nearby property.

One of the animals was then struck by an SUV and killed. The other horse was caught and brought back to its owner.

A person in the vehicle was taken to the hospital for observation.
